Crispy Japanese breaded chicken cutlet served with tangy tonkatsu sauce. Golden, crunchy exterior with tender, juicy chicken inside. A beloved comfort food!

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breast fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup tonkatsu sauce
  • Shredded cabbage for serving
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

    Pound chicken breasts to even thickness (about 1/2 inch)

    Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika

    Set up breading station: flour in one plate, beaten eggs in another, panko in the third

    Coat each chicken piece in flour, then egg, then panko, pressing firmly to adhere

    Heat oil in a large pan to 350°F (175°C)

    Fry chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through

    Remove and drain on paper towels

    Let rest for 2 minutes, then slice into strips

    Serve over shredded cabbage with tonkatsu sauce and lemon wedges
